Canadian Property Company goes for Thailand property investors. A successful Canadian property company has seen Thailand as the next big thing for overseas property investors and have put their money where their mouth is by opening of its corporate office in Bangkok, its first outside North America. The real estate firm S&P Destination Properties was founded in 2004 in Vancouver. It is currently marketing 11 projects, with another 15 in the design and development stage. Its projects include Trump Ocean Resort Baja Mexico, Wyndansea Oceanfront Golf Resort in Canada, Wildhorse Meadows and Granby Ranch in Colorado. S&P will work in partnership with Destination Properties of Thailand to service the growing demand for resort real estate in Southeast Asia. Its first project the 358-room golf resort Doubletree Gold Resort and Spa in Chon Buri's Si Racha district. Doubletree would introduce the condo-hotel concept under an international hotel brand in Thailand, said Shane Styles, the company's director of sales. He said fine resort properties offered investors a handsome return on investment, as well as the chance to stay in highly attractive properties. He added that this type of investment was popular in North America, where the company's headquarters had pioneered the concept and now had a strong market foothold. ''The concept is quite new in Thailand and this would be the first sale here of a condo-hotel project managed by an international brand,'' said Mr Styles. Doubletree is a hotel brand under Hilton Hotels Corporation, while the property is owned by Destination Properties, a resort real estate developer based in Thailand. The property's rooms and suites will overlook the Si Racha Golf Club, with views of the golf course and the Gulf of Thailand. The golf course was designed by veteran golf champion Gary Player. The low cost of living and a good selection of direct flights takes the sting out of the distance. Thailand is a country that seems to tick all of the right boxes for the overseas property buyer. “Boomers from Japan, Korea, China and Europe are flocking to Southeast Asia.
